Great video for highlighting what a service should look like. Personally, i would have like to see every step of removing and refilling of fluids. A lot of quality info but most of it is just glossed over. Clearly, you've done this A LOT. Most of us here do not have that level of experience. More details would be super helpful

Warranty flat rate vs customer flat rate are not the same. Warranty flat rate is almost alway half of customer flat rate. Working at a dealership where a lot of the work is Warranty. I spend many 50 hr work week on the clock to only bring home 20hrs pay. BEING MOTIVATED IS NOT A GUARANTEE. If you have a shop Manager WHO HAS HIS FAVORITES YOU WILL NOT MAKE MONEY. I would would do 6to8 Warranty transmission replacements a week knew every trick to speed up the job and still lost 1.5 to 3.0 hours per job. If those jobs were customer flat rate I would have made 1.5 to 4.0 hrs on each job. No pay for troubleshooting except electric which payed 2hr. Like you said rattles and water leaks guaranteed pay loss. PA there is no guarantee pay.

The real question is what’s the pay?

I got the BD310 to use for speed and rpm's displayed on a 10" Lenovo tablet because in my 2016 Class A motorhome, the Ford F53 gauges pre-Godzilla (which are much better) are damn near impossible to see in bright sunlit days. This device works great however the numbers are in orange, which of course is washed out in bright sunlight!! I cannot find anything anywhere about changing the fonts to black for the readout dashboard so now I have to squint to see the readout on the Lenovo tablet but I can at least still see it. Does anybody know how to change the font colors to something other than Ancel orange???

The reason I buy snap on is because they hold value very very. I was really unemployed and on top of unemployment benefits I was able to sell some snap tools and made almost $5000 can’t say that about harbor fried tool, Home Depot and other cheap brand.. that’s my reasoning, but that’s in life. I’m quality or quantity.. I don’t wear old navy, gap, shein. Everything I own is designer including my auto tube tools.

I worked as a valet at Toyota dealership back in 2015 and after nine months of being there, I was offered a job at the lube tech unfortunately I turned it down because I didn’t feel like I was good enough at it. But I think I want to try again.

Opening up a small to medium shop OF YOUR OWN is the ONLY way being a mechanic makes any sense any longer. The business model is UPSIDE DOWN and makes no financial sense at all. Or be a mobile mechanic. AND - ONLY the young - healthy and strong can do it - and not for long. Meaning somewhere in your 40's - IF you didn't already injure yourself on the job or off the job - your back and body will start DISABLING you from even being able to do THE JOB. AND BY YOUR 50'S - you will be literally unable to do the job at all without extreme daily pain.

I have been an automotive mechanic/tech for 35 years have been there for computer control start until now and it has been tough especially here in California. My advice is to look for a different trade as cars are lasting longer, it's not like we pull cylinder heads off at 75 or 100 thousand miles and as this tech says you so much $ in your tools, I think I'm at $$$$. I have seen more guys come off the SNAP ON truck and say my wife is going to kill me !!!!
